It wasa grey and mizzly afternoon in Redruth, but Bishop Philip was given the warmestof welcomes at the ancient parish church of St Euny, starting with a quickupdate on the history of the church which has resulted in the interesting firstview of the Tudor bell tower standing alongside the Georgian church.Thursday'sOpen Cafe was in full swing and the Bishop met with the churchwarden, Lucie andoutreach worker, Clare.Followingan offer of tea and cake, served by volunteers Margaret and Chris, the Bishopchatted to the craft group and demonstrated his prowess at playing the ukulelewith the St. Euny Ukes.A fewrousing songs later and it was time to say farewell.Theopen cafe is one of the projects run byClare Brown, community outreach worker, on behalf of the DCC. Everyoneis welcome to come along on a Thursday afternoon for tea, craft, company andmusic. There are also regular dog walks around Carn Brea which are held everysix weeks or so. I am glad to have this opportunity to introduce myself and say how delighted I am to have been invited to join the Team in Redruth as your Team Vicar for Mission. I am local to Camborne Redruth and have worked, worshipped and lived here for most of my life, but though I have attended various services in Treleigh, St Euny and St Andrews over the years, I have not been a regular worshipper in any of the Team churches. Some of you may know that I have been working with the churches in Camborne for the past few years and though I will be sorry to leave so many friends behind, at this point in my ministry, I feel very drawn to Redruth at what seems to be an exciting time of promise and opportunity for the Diocese, the Deanery and the Team. I am looking forward to spending time with as many of you as possible in the first few weeks, getting to know you and renewing acquaintance with some!
